Climate changes is the most important environmental issue for the aviation, and shall be given priority in decisions and activities. Concern for the environment shall be an integral part of all operations and be factor in all decisions. SCI is committed to conduct all processes related to its business in an environmental responsible manner by minimizing waste, reducing or eliminating wherever practicable the release of any elements that adversely affect the environment, and utilizing recycled and environmentally friendly materials as widely as possible. As all companies operating in Sweden, SCI comply with the strict environmental laws of the country.

SCI actively works towards this by:swedavia

  • Complying with authorities and environmental regulatory legislations
  • Environmental protection consideration and environmental awareness is a standing issue on every staff meeting and integrated into staff training
  • Staff takes an active role in the environmental work on a daily basis
  • Aim to minimize environmental impact and waste, and ensuring recycling or other proper handling and disposition of production waste
  • Drive eco-friendly cars

Swedavia owner and operator of Arlanda Airport (among other airports) continually strive to mitigate the negative environmental impact of their airport, primarily by reducing the emissions of the climate-changing gases, reducing other emissions to the air and water and minimizing the use of chemicals and generation of waste. Operations shall continually be made more energy efficient and direct operations towards sustainable use of resources. Environmental risks of operations are assessed and managed in a systematic way. Swedavia shall take an active part in local, regional, national and international efforts aimed at reducing the negative environmental impact of the aviation industry and work for the sustainable development of its airports. Arlanda is climate certified at the highest level of the Airport Carbon Accreditaion (ACA) Programme, confirming the exceptional work Swedavia devotes to reducing the greenhouse gas emissions pays off. The ACA’s highest level means that the airport can give an account of its own fossil carbon dioxide emissions as well as emissions sources that the airport can influence. The airport must be able to show reductions in its own emissions and involve other companies and organizations at the airport. Being a climate certified airport with the highest level if ACA also means these Swedavia has standards for all organizations on the airports including tenants as SCI. Hence, SCI therefore also has integrated all standards stated by Swedavia on environment and sustainable use of resources in its processes.

Replacement of vehicles with lower carbon dioxide emissions, eco-driving, increased use of renewable fuel for vehicles only permit environmental cars at the airport are just one of many activities implemented by Swedavia enabling their environmental goal.
